Comstock Logging Supplies stresses the importance of regular maintenance. This does not stop at the sprocket; a misused sprocket will cause patterns of chain wear which can damage the guide bar and reduce the life of chain, bar, and sprocket. Proper maintenance includes:
• Proper chain tension; loose chain tension is a leading cause of sprocket problems.
• Clean all build-up from splined hub so the rim can float freely.
• Never run an old chain on a new sprocket.
• Apply grease to the clutch drum’s bearings each time the sprocket is removed.
